1958 -- "Sandy" -- 2026
Sandra Kay Schulthies
Apr 9, 1958 — Oct 19, 2026
Kaysville, UT
Sandra “Sandy” Kay Schulthies was born April 9, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Donna Alice Griffith Schulthies and Rendell Frederick Schulthies. When Sandy was just ten days old, the family moved to Fruita, Colorado, with her older sister Linda carefully holding the newborn baby in her arms the entire drive while her mother drove.
Sandy attended Shelledy Elementary for Kindergarten through second grade, then fourth through sixth grades at Fruita Elementary. She also studied dance and piano. She later attended Fruita Monument High School before returning to Utah during her junior year, graduating from Viewmont High School in Bountiful. Sandy went on to Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor's degree in social sciences, and later graduated from the University of Utah with a master's degree in health education.
Sandy possessed a deep love of music and a beautiful voice, frequently performing in concerts with the Institute Choir. Sandy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a deep love for her heavenly Father, and strived to be like Jesus Christ. She worked in the accounting department for the Church under Bishop Edgley before dedicating over three decades of service to the State of Utah in public health. Passionate about disease prevention and wellness, she spend 32 years helping others live healthier lives.
After retirement, she looked forward to traveling and spending time with family. Many of our favorite memories of Sandy are having her come to family dinners, bringing her famous homemade lemon and banana cream pies, which were always the favorite pies at Thanksgiving. Her warmth, generosity, and sweet presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sandy is survived by her siblings: Linda Hogge (Tom, deceased), Don Schulthies (Rosanne), Debra Kolts (Lee), and Shelley Preece (Craig), along with 67 nieces and nephews who will miss her very much and cherish her memory.
