Russell Lyman Haueter, 57, of Greer, died Monday, March 23, 2015, in Ahsahka, from a gunshot wound.
Russell was born Feb. 27, 1958, in Salt Lake City, to Russell Dean Haueter and Karen Watkins Haueter.
Russell attended Viewmont and Woods Cross High School and then joined the U.S. Army in 1976, where he served three years, mostly in Savannah, Ga., as a helicopter maintenance crew chief. After leaving the service, he trained for and received his private pilot's license.
Russell met Sheila Marie McBride in Ely, Nev., and they were later married June 10, 1990, in Elko, Nev.
Russ was our modern-day mountain man and loved everything outdoors. He received his bachelor of science in nursing at Lewis-Clark State College. Russ worked as a registered nurse at the Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino. He was a member of the UMF motorcycle association.
He is survived by his mother, Karen W. Haueter Kinder of Heber, Utah; stepmother Joslyn Haueter of Sandy, Utah; stepfather Lamar Kinder of Heber; brothers and sisters Bill (Kathy) Haueter of Magna, Utah, Robert Haueter of Magna, Melodie H. (Kirk) North of Heber, Lucretia H. (Coeby) Brown of South Jordan, Utah, and Brandon (Sheena) Haueter of Magna; and girlfriend, Carmen O'Hara of Orofino; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
